New ideas and developments in educational aims and objectives, methods and practices, have catapulted the school library from the periphery to the mainstream of the teaching-learning process. Developing countries like those of the English-speaking Caribbean are recognizing the need for including school library services in their educational planning and some are making efforts to provide these services and train school librarians who will contribute to the process of education by (a) supplying appropriate resource materials and (b) imparting the skills necessary for their optimum use.
