This professional training programme is designed to equip Public Health Inspectors (PHIs) with advanced knowledge and practical skills in port health operations and quarantine management at international points of entry. The course emphasises the International Health Regulations (IHR 2005), inspection of ships and aircraft, disease surveillance systems, quarantine procedures and emergency preparedness and response.

A key component of the programme is a practical field inspection exercise conducted at the end of the course, providing participants with the opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills in a real-world port health environment. This hands-on experience reinforces classroom learning and strengthens participants' competencies in conducting inspections, identifying public health risks and implementing appropriate control measures.
