The Caribbean Coastal Marine Productivity programme, CARICOMP, was established to support the study and long-term monitoring of the Caribbean’s major coastal ecosystems, including coral reefs, seagrass beds and mangrove communities. The CARICOMP Methods Manual provides standardized procedures for mapping these habitats and measuring their physical and biological characteristics across participating marine laboratories, parks and reserves throughout the region. By promoting consistent data collection and regional scientific collaboration, the manual supports research on coastal productivity, biodiversity and environmental change, while also strengthening local capacity for the conservation and sustainable management of Caribbean marine resources.
