Overview
Jason Grant is a researcher, aquaculture specialist, and outreach coordinator. He is currently serving as the Scientific Officer in charge of Outreach at the UWI Discovery Bay Marine Laboratory, with a scientific focus on queen conch aquaculture and coral reef ecosystems.
As a young man starting his career in Jamaica, Jason has become involved in scientific work, specifically focusing on aquaculture, reef health assessment, and project management. A significant portion of his work involves collaborating with schools and other organizations to educate visitors throughout Jamaica on the value of our vital natural coastal resources.
Jason is a strong supporter of aquaculture initiatives in Jamaica, being a part of the Caribbean Aquaculture Education and Innovation Hub and its offshoot, the Youth in Caribbean Aquaculture Network. Here, he volunteers his time to support the efforts to bring the unlimited potential of aquaculture to the youth across Jamaica and the wider Caribbean.
Jason holds a bachelor’s degree in marine biology, as well as a certificate in queen conch aquaculture, and is a licensed PADI Advanced Diver and a recipient of the Charlotte Goodbody Award.
