Overview
Shanna-Lee Thomas is the Chief Scientific Officer at the UWI Discovery Bay Marine Laboratory. In this capacity she facilitates and coordinates research for both UWI and visiting international scientists, conducts in field data collection for the DBML and provides oversight to educational and outreach initiatives. Shanna-Lee’s research focuses on Queen conch aquaculture and she spearheads the Queen Conch Project.
In addition, she serves as the Safety Director and Chamber Operator for the Peter M.H Gayle Hyperbaric Facility which involves ensuring the maintenance of hyperbaric equipment and manages critical team mobilization for patient care.
Shanna-Lee holds a BSc in Environmental Biology and an MSc in Natural Resource Management (specializing in Marine and Terrestrial Ecology) from the University of the West Indies, Mona.
