Overview

Given the elaborate geological history of Jamaica and the wider Caribbean, a rich geodiversity is imparted on our landscapes, much of which is inconspicuous to the general public for its scientific significance and geoheritage potential. Jorjan Dolphy's current research surrounds geoheritage and geodiversity in the Caribbean, with specific interest in Jamaica and how these concepts can be used to further develop the conservation landscape across the island. Her M.Phil focuses on creating an inventory for geodiversity elements across Eastern Jamaica, and the potential for said elements to foster local community development by means of education and site sensitisation, geotourism, and establishing and/or reinforcing place attachments.
