JAMCODERS SUMMER CAMP

JamCoders is an algorithms and programming Summer Camp being hosted for high school students (3rd to 5th Form) across Jamaica. The Camp is scheduled for July 4 – July 29, 2022, at The UWI Mona Campus. This is a residential programme that attracts no cost to the participating students, with meals and lodging provided. The programme will follow COVID-19 related policies as dictated by the Ministry of Health and Wellness and The UWI Mona.

All interested students are required to complete an online application via the following link https://jamcoders.org.jm/#apply by May 14, 2022. Each application requires:

  • School transcripts (for the last two year)
  • One letter of  recommendation from a teacher
  • Short essay describing interest in the programme
  • Proof of vaccination against covid-19

JamCoders is being organized by the Department of Computing (DoC), Faculty of Science & Technology (FST) at The UWI, Mona, members of the Caribbean Diaspora working at Google and UC Berkeley, and the Reggae Artiste, Chronixx through his CHOR Foundation. The programme is similar to AddisCoder, a programme Professor Jelani Nelson of UC Berkeley founded in Ethiopia, which is now co-organized by the Meles Zenawi Foundation and supported by the Ethiopian government.
