Our department has four functional units, Public Health, Family Medicine, Psychiatry and the Community Health Centre. Through these units, the department provides undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Additionally, clinical services are delivered through the Sir Kenneth Standard Health Centre, and mental health services through the Department of Psychiatry, the University Hospital of the West Indies.
The Department of Community Health and Psychiatry aims to provide excellence in clinical service and a quality teaching and learning environment to equip its graduates to become effective medical professionals.
Our department, consistent with the mandates of the university and faculty, remains committed to excellence in teaching, service and research. Currently an amalgamation of the subsection of Community Health and the subsection of Psychiatry, we seek to promote health and well-being among our external and internal clients. In our department, there exists a compendium of educational and training initiatives. We are very proud of our faculty, who infuse our courses with high-quality content and excitement. Engage us! (whether academic or technical and administrative staff) as we strive to be a responsive 21st-century department in a globally accessible and competitive space.
Let the journey begin!
