Factors affecting treatment completion were studied in 224 patients in the Substance Abuse Unit of the University Hospital of the West Indies. Of the 23% of patients who failed to complete their treatment, those with cocaine dependence primarily were significantly more likely to fail than those with primarily alcohol dependence.
