Departmental Representatives play a vital role in student leadership, serving as the bridge between the student body and faculty, and advocating for the academic, social, and developmental needs of their peers within each department. Meet the Departmental representatives serving of the Guild of Students Committee in the Faculty of Science and Technology, The University of the West Indies, Mona for the 2025/2026 academic year.

Jonathan Willis

Life Sciences Representative (2025/2026)
Jonathan Willis serves as the Life Sciences Representative for the 2025/2026 academic year. His goal is to support and advocate for all Life Science students by connecting them with opportunities, resources, and initiatives that strengthen the sense of community within the department. Jonathan is focused on creating an engaging and enriching environment built on collaboration, environmental awareness, and student-focused activities. He encourages his peers to step into new experiences, whether through research, campus life, or academic projects. For him, life is a collection of experiences, and while challenges may arise, he reminds students to keep pushing forward and to believe in their potential—because it’s always darkest before the dawn.


 

Raéanna Warren
Computing Department Representative (2025/2026)
Raéanna Warren is a Computer Science major and the Computing Department Representative for the 2025/2026 academic year. She is passionate about the power of technology to solve real-world problems and strengthen communities. In her role, she is focused on amplifying student voices, advocating for resources that support innovation and growth, and promoting inclusivity within the computing community. Raéanna is committed to bridging the gap between students and faculty through strong communication, regular updates, and targeted initiatives. She supports academic and professional development through workshops, peer networks, and student-led events. With a collaborative mindset and a strong interest in emerging technologies, Raéanna is here to listen, advocate, and help build a future where every computing student feels empowered.

Quaciana Channer
Mathematics Department Representative (2025/2026)
Quaciana Channer, a final-year Actuarial Science student, serves as the Mathematics Department Representative. With a strong understanding of the challenges students face, Quaciana brings both experience and empathy to her role. Her primary objective is to help students make the most of their time in the Faculty of Science and Technology by offering meaningful support, encouragement, and opportunities for growth. She invites students to participate in upcoming forums, volunteer efforts, and capacity-building initiatives. To incoming first-year students, she emphasizes the importance of being bold, staying focused, and remaining grounded in the reasons they chose this path. Quaciana is committed to ensuring that every student feels equipped to succeed.

Andrew Smart
Physics Department Representative (2025/2026)
Andrew Smart takes on the role of Physics Department Representative with a focus on strengthening support systems for students. His plans for the year include expanding the Physics Resource Drive to improve access to learning materials, revitalizing peer tutoring to foster collaboration, and creating clearer pathways from undergraduate studies to professional careers. For Andrew, representation is about more than launching initiatives—it’s about building a thriving academic community where students feel supported in their ambitions. He is ready to work alongside his peers to make this academic year a transformative one.


Aaliyah Alexander
Geography and Geology Department Representative (2025/2026)
Aaliyah Alexander, a final-year Geoscience major, is the Geography and Geology Department Representative for 2025/2026. She is committed to upholding the department's values of academic excellence, open communication, and mutual respect. Aaliyah aims to strengthen collaboration among students, faculty, and staff while fostering a supportive and inclusive environment. Quoting Michael Jordan—“Some people want it to happen; some people wish it would happen; some people MAKE it happen”—she sees her role as an opportunity to create real impact. Inspired by the idea that “Geography is the tapestry that weaves the world together,” Aaliyah is dedicated to listening, advocating, and working toward the continued success of the department.


Khelon David Jadan Jones
Biochemistry Section Representative (2025/2026)
Khelon David Jadan Jones represents the Biochemistry Section for the 2025/2026 academic year. For him, the role goes beyond holding a title—it’s a commitment to the students and the strength of the section. Khelon believes in taking action, using time wisely, and creating a legacy through service and leadership. As he puts it: “Chance births the man, action creates the myth, but in the end only time can forge a legend.” He encourages students to approach this year with purpose, to take initiative, and to aim for something greater. Under his leadership, the Biochemistry Section continues to live up to its motto: More than Just a Section.
