Prof. Dale Webber Gives Keynote at Physics Honours Society Breakfast

The Department of Physics hosted its first Honours Society Breakfast for the academic year 2019/2020 on Friday, September 27, 2019, where the keynote address was given by Professor Dale Webber, the current Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Principal of The UWI Mona.  In addition to the awardees, guests of note also included, founder of the Physics Honour Society, Professor Michael Taylor who is also the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology; and Dr. Tannecia Stephenson, Head of the Department of Physics. Undergraduate students were awarded prizes which was followed by a time of socializing with current lecturers and post graduate students. The department continues to encourage students to exceed their potential, while stirring their interest in the field of Physics through participation in this initiative.

The Physics Honours Society was created with the intention of motivating Physics students to aim higher and achieve more. In addition to academic achievement, the Physics Honours Society seeks to expose students to research fields and real world applications of classroom knowledge through summer internships, research assistantships and inclusion in research meetings, conferences and colloquiums.
