Dear Students,We are at the start of a new academic year, and it is my pleasure as Dean, to welcome all our students to our Faculty. For some of you it is a new experience being at The UWI, for others you are in the middle of your university sojourn, while still for others this is your finalizing year either as an undergraduate or postgraduate student. Whatever the stage you may be at, we are happy to have you as a part of the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) family for the academic year 2020/21.
There is no doubt that the present period is a challenging one. For semester 1 we have had to pivot almost all our courses to an online mode. Laboratory classes have been most impacted because there are some scientific skills that are not easily transferred in an online mode. Being online also makes it a little harder to develop the camaraderie and social interactions that face-to-face teaching would have otherwise engendered. Nonetheless as a Faculty we are committed to doing our best to be accessible and agile using the technological tools at our disposal so that as students you can have the best FST Experience possible. One which is Fulfilling, Satisfying and Transformational. We encourage you to work with us by being engaged, being proactive, being connected, and being involved!
