ABOUT US

Welcome to Elsa Leo-Rhynie Hall

Welcome to Prospective Students “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” - Lao Tzu You have begun your university journey and have taken the single most important step: choosing the Elsa Leo-Rhynie Hall (ELR Towers) as your home for your UWI journey. Choosing the ELR Towers is an indication of your intent to be great and I take immense pleasure in welcoming you to the home of greatness, the home of excellence, the true “Hall of Halls”. Since our first year of existence the ELR Towers has demonstrated its commitment to the University of the West Indies’ (UWI) mandate to produce distinctive graduates committed to leadership, academic, social and personal development. This is clear in our variety of active clubs and societies that are dedicated to the holistic development of our residents. It is also epitomized by our earning and retaining of the title “Hall of Halls” 2015-2018.

The Elsa Leo-Rhynie Hall

Elsa Leo-Rhynie Hall (Towers) opened its doors September 1, 2012 to 132 students. Another 132 students joined the Hall on September 8, 2012 when another tower was opened. All five towers were opened in August 2013 and we now offer accommodation to 600 students each academic year. There are five towers (Tower of Dragons, Tower of Orion, Tower of Apollo, Tower of Phoenix and Tower of Olympus ) four of which are single occupancy, the other being double occupancy. All the single occupancy towers have a capacity of 132 spaces. The double occupancy tower has four levels. Level one is used as the Administrative Floor with the Manager’s Office, Study Rooms, Barbershop, Commissary and Café, Athenaeum, Commuting Student Lounge, Conference Room and a fully equipped Computer Room. Levels two and three have a total of 24 rooms and houses 48 students. Level four has 12 rooms and is used to house the Resident Advisors.

Hall Song

VERSE ONE: Standing tall above them all, Towers shall always reign. We move as one, second to none, We shall prevail. CHORUS: We strive for excellence, As we achieve a common goal, Long shall live Towers Hall, One and for all.

VERSE TWO: We are the wolves, we show no fear, Red, black, silver we wear. Heart of a wolf, so fierce and brave, Victory we crave.

CHORUS: We strive for excellence, As we achieve a common goal. Long shall stand Towers Hall, One and for all.
