Agile support for students affected by Hurricane Melissa

The UWI-Mona is Standing With Our Students. The Student Solidarity programme is designed to provide financial relief to our students severely impacted by the passage of Hurricane Melissa as we understand that constrained financial resources may have to be diverted to more critical needs at this time. Students from the County of Cornwall who are severely impacted and still have an outstanding tuition balance for Semester One 2025-2026 may be eligible to have 50% of the outstanding balance waived. These students will also have until May 8, 2026 to clear their balance. Students from other counties who are severely impacted may also apply.

As we reopen operations for face-to-face teaching and learning on November 3, 2025, we are mindful that a number of our students are still struggling to come to terms with the loss and damage from the dreadful hurricane. As such, we have included a high level of agility in our reopening process. Students who are unable to join us, whether due to mental fatigue, lack of access to basic amenities such as road networks, internet connections, etc., we ask that you reach out to us when you can. We will discuss with you options for teaching and learning, including alternative assessment for this semester. You can make the choice that is most suitable for your circumstances, and we will facilitate. Please contact the Office of the Deputy Principal by email at odp.monaappeals@uwimona.edu.jm or by WhatsApp at (876) 577-7631.
