Pelagic sargassum comprises two species and three dominant morphotypes, Sargassum natans (I and VIII) and S. fluitans III, which can be collectively referred to as ‘sargassum’. Sargassum research seeks to improve monitoring, determine its impact on coastal industries and explore valorisation options.
