The Graphic Syllabus Workshop
The Instructional Development Unit at UWI, Mona invites all members of the academic staff to a new and innovative workshop on Course Design - The Graphic Syllabus. The workshop will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2011 with a repeat on Friday, September 23, 2011 in the Training Room of the IDU (upstairs the Inter-Faculty Lecture Theatre).
The Workshop is designed to share how Graphic Syllabi can be used and the potential impact. Text syllabi sometimes fail to get students' attention because they are predominantly 'word'-oriented. What if course outlines were presented in a graphic manner - use of flow charts, diagrams or pictures? Does the packaging of the course structure and the body of knowledge influence students' learning?

Applied Brand Management - Short Course
A strong brand is a company’s most valuable asset and is the basis for building lasting stakeholder value and sustainable business growth. Yet, many organizations have not capitalized on the power of their brands and very little has been paid to the subject of brands and branding in advanced education in the Caribbean. This course presents an introduction to brands and their importance to business strategy and an organization long term profitability. It also provides an explanation of the main theories and concepts and explores techniques used in building and sustaining a strong brand.

Advertising Management 1 - Short Course
The course presents practical information and ready-to-use tools for anyone involved or interested in the production and/or supervision of the advertising function. The course presents advertising management as an art, science and business discipline aimed at directing the strategic link between promotional needs and agency/marketing department execution of solutions. Many registrants will already have experience with the 'how' of advertising techniques and practice; this course will supply them with more of the 'how' as well as the 'why'.
