The Management of the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus wishes to advise that there was an incident involving the discharge of a licensed firearm on the Campus on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at approximately 6:55 p.m. Fortunately, the incident did not result in the physical injury of any member of our community or any other person.

The Mona Police and the Campus Police were quickly alerted and the situation defused.
An investigation was launched into the incident. We intend to share an update with the public as soon as we receive a report from the police.
As we continue to work together to keep our Campus community safe, we urge all members and visitors to continue to monitor their environment and report any suspicious activities to any member of the Campus Security team.
