Governor General of Barbados Dame Sandra Mason saluted University of the West Indies’ early administrators for their bold vision and lauded the institution for its high-ranking status on the world stage when she accepted an honorary degree of Doctor of Laws from her alma mater on October 2.

Two weeks ago, from September 29 to 30, the leadership team of The University of the West Indies (The UWI) successfully completed part one of its business planning retreat. This weekend, it enters part two of the strategy to monetize its global reputation into sustainable revenue. An annual net revenue generation target of US$50 million was set by the University, to be divided among its five campuses and the Vice-Chancellery. The objective of the entrepreneurial engagement is to confront and remove its institutional operational deficit.

The University of the West Indies (The UWI) is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor C. Justin Robinson as the new Pro Vice-Chancellor of the Board for Undergraduate Studies (BUS). Professor Robinson’s appointment took effect on August 1, 2021, beginning his three-year term.

Professor Rose-Marie Belle Antoine has been appointed as the new Pro Vice-Chancellor of the Board for Graduate Studies and Research (BGSR) at The University of the West Indies (The UWI). Having completed two terms as the first Dean, Faculty of Law St. Augustine and regional University Dean, Professor Antoine now heads the University’s Board for Graduate Studies and Research, to oversee its policy and operational plans for development and regulation.

Dr. Stacy Richards-Kennedy has been appointed Interim Pro Vice-Chancellor for Global Affairs at The University of the West Indies (The UWI).  With effect from August 1, 2021, she assumed leadership of the regional university’s global engagement portfolio and is responsible for coordinating internationalisation and strategic global initiatives across The UWI system.
