A significant change has been made at the start of the new academic year 2021-2022, to the staffing of the inner Office of the Vice-Chancellor, located at the Regional Headquarters of The University of the West Indies in Jamaica.

The University of the West Indies Mona Campus wishes to advise all students and members of the public that Friday, September 17, 2021 is a full business day as  such the Mona Campus will be opened for face – to – face business in keeping with the announcement made by the Government of Jamaica on Wednesday, September 15, 2021.
Members of the UWI community are being asked to continue to check their University emails and information from the Government of Jamaica for updates regarding the new island-wide arrangements.
 

The University of the West Indies (The UWI) is pleased to announce its six newest Professors, including an Environmental Physicist, Economic and Political Development Specialist and four medical professionals – three of these Professors are at the Mona Campus.

Deputy Principal, Professor Ian Boxill and Ms. Lauri-Ann Samuels, Executive Director of the National Baking Company Foundation are flanked by members of the first cohort of Fellows of the Building Out Our STEM Teachers (BOOST) programme. The occasion was the networking session which took place at The Jamaica Pegasus Hotel on August 18, 2021.

Professor Eris D. Schoburgh has been elevated to the position of President of the Caribbean Studies Association (CSA) at the meeting of the Executive Council (EC) convened after the 2021 annual conference. She served previously as the organisation’s Vice-President.

The University of the West Indies (The UWI) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Patrick Anglin as the University Data Protection Officer, with effect from August 1, 2021.

The University of the West Indies (The UWI) proudly congratulates Ambassador Dr the Honourable June Soomer on receiving the Order “José de Marcoleta” in the Degree of Grand Cross, which is the highest distinction that the Republic of Nicaragua can convey upon a foreign diplomat.

The University of the West Indies (The UWI) is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Paula Morgan as the new University Director of the Institute for Gender and Development Studies (IGDS). Professor Morgan’s appointment took effect on August 1, 2021, succeeding Professor Opal Palmer Adisa, who held the post since 2017.
