The Caribbean has lost another intellectual giant. The University of the West Indies (The UWI) salutes Sir Neville Nicholls as a quintessential Caribbean Man. He served his country, Barbados, and the Caribbean in several capacities, including as Chairman of the Campus Council of The UWI Cave Hill Campus from 1995 to 2009 and as President of the Caribbean Development Bank.

In all of his endeavours, the hallmark of excellence and doing what was right for the people who would be the ultimate beneficiaries of the decisions were paramount.

Schools of Education Biennial Conference 2024: Revolutionizing Caribbean Education

The School of Education, The University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona Campus, is delighted to announce the UWI Schools of Education (SOE) Biennial Conference 2024, taking place on July 8-10, 2024, in Kingston, Jamaica. The conference will feature three days of stimulating discussions, debates, and networking opportunities, taking place at the UWI Regional Headquarters (July 8-9) and the School of Education, UWI Mona (July 10).

The UWI Mona re-opens following the passage of Hurricane Beryl

The University of the West Indies, Mona (The UWI) wishes to inform the public that the campus has resumed normal operations as of Friday, July 5, 2024, at 8:30 am.
Hurricane Beryl prompted precautionary measures and campus closure on Tuesday, July 2, 2024. Following the discontinuation of the hurricane warning by the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM), and based on our own preliminary assessment, UWI Mona has deemed it safe to reopen for normal operations.

to minimize any undue interruptions to your studies.

Mona Campus Closure - Hurricane Beryl Update

Dear Faculty/Staff and Students:

Your safety is our top priority. Below are some critical information regarding the
operation of our campus over the next 24-48 hours.

Due to the impending threat of Hurricane Beryl, the Mona campus will be closed on
Tuesday July 2, 2024 at 1pm and all day on Wednesday July 3, 2024. We will
continue to take directives from The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency
Management (ODPEM) to update all key stakeholders.
