Professor William D Aiken will on Saturday (June 28) be installed as District Governor for Rotary International District 7020 at a ceremony at The UWI Regional Headquarters on Mona Road, St Andrew.
Professor Aiken is head of the Department of Surgery, Radiology, Anaesthesia & Intensive Care, and Emergency Medicine, at the Mona Campus of The University of the West Indies.

There was high success rate among 2025 graduating medical student at the University of the West Indies (The UWI), Mona.

One hundred and thirty-four medical students sat the examinations at Mona, of which 125 (93.3 per cent) were successful and only nine or 6.7 per cent unsuccessful and will be required to do a resit of the examinations. 

The majority, 96 (71.6 per cent) of the medical students who sat the examinations at Mona are from Jamaica, the remainder were from the Caribbean region with a few international students.

Dr. Christopher Malcolm already has special plans for the Norman Manley Law School, where he will assume the role of principal on September 1.

Dr. Malcolm intends to comprehensively assess the law school's programme and how it functions upon taking office.

"My immediate priority is to find out what the current status of the law school is at all levels, including student and staff activities, how the law school has been performing by reference to what end users require, and about operational or other issues that might require corrective adjustments," he said.
