Media & Communication (DIP)
Programme Overview
The diploma programme holds a very special place in the history and evolution of CARIMAC. This was the first programme to be introduced when CARIMAC was established as a department of the University of The West Indies (UWI) Mona campus in October 1974 with 31 students. The UWI was charged with developing a programme that effectively combined practical training in media with a sound theoretical basis. The diploma programme became the flagship for the programmes now offered by CARIMAC.
Digital Media Production focuses on communicating via the web, screen and motion and the use of digital tools and design principles to communicate effectively. Students are encouraged to creatively solve design and communication problems. Integrated Marketing Communications brings convergence of thoughts, processes and techniques in communication. It also responds to the international trend in combining traditional marketing with social marketing imperatives.
Students are exposed to public relations, social marketing and advertising and regularly design campaigns to promote brands, organisational goals and behaviour change.
