About UWI Research Days 2019

As a regional institution, The University of the West Indies sees its mandate not only through academic instruction but also in making academia relevant to real life, through the application of research. For the past 20 years The University through its Research Days Exposition has been making significant impact on local, regional, and even international development. Just recently, the 2019 Times Higher Education World University Rankings ranked The UWI in the elite band of the top 5% of universities worldwide, this ranking based in large part on the university’s research portfolio.

The UWI Mona’s Research Days exposition will be from February 6-8, 2019. Visitors will learn more about the research directions being taken by our faculties and students, and how this new knowledge will change the world around us. Also and importantly, the Annual UWI Mona Research Days (URD) effort continues to give the opportunity for businesses and other interests to explore how research can boost social and economic development.

Some of the Mona Campus’ research successes include the Caribbean climate change policies influenced by the work of Professor Michael Taylor et al, as well as 1991 national socio-economic research of Patricia Anderson and Michael Witter, that eventually birthed the Programme of Advancement Through Health and Education (PATH).
