As the world's population continues to rise, and as the rate of pregnancies in teenage girls shows little sign of dropping to an acceptable level, the need for a well-planned and well-taught sex education programme in Jamaican schools becomes even more urgent. Some territories in the Caribbean have had such programmes for some time, and these have proven to be most effective if started from the early years of primary schooling.
