Obese patients with no history of cardiac, renal or hepatic disease are significantly more likely to have oedema in their lumbar subcutaneous fat on magnetic resonance imaging than patients who are not obese.

ABSTRACT

Objectives: To investigate the association between oedema in the subcutaneous fat of the lumbar region during routine magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and patients’ age, gender and body mass index (BMI).
