The Budgets Division

The Budget Division is responsible for the development of the University Grants Committee (UGC) biennium budgets for The University of the West Indies, Mona Campus, based on guidelines agreed with the Ministry of Finance (Jamaica). The proposed budget is presented to the Technical Advisory Committee (comprised of representatives of contributing governments) for review, amendments and recommendations to the University Grants Committee, which gives final approval.

  •  Training/consulting to Budget Holders and departmental staff
  •  Establishing systems to assist departmental staff  in monitoring expenditure
  •  Providing guidance on purchasing decisions and costs containment.
  •  Supporting Budget Holders working on long-range planning
  •  Conducting special research upon requests by departments.
  •  Providing explanations on any query posed by Budget Holders or Administrators.
  •  Advising departments of funds available for staff  costs, staff costs involved in hiring new personnel or internal staff movements, and coding of income/ expenditure items
  • Establishing a Budget Manual to help users to navigate the Banner Financial System.
