Dr. Olivia S.C. Bravo is a lecturer in the Caribbean School of Media and Communication at the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus. She teaches courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Her broad research interests are in integrated marketing communication, consumer behaviour, and intercultural communication within Caribbean contexts. Her work is published in the Journal of Marketing Communications, Advances in Consumer Research, and Caribbean Journal of Mixed Methods Research. Her most recent co-authored work on the pro-environmental behavioural effects of user-generated content was awarded “Best Faculty Paper in the Environmental Communication Division”, at one of the leading international conferences for the communication, International Communication Association. Prior to joining the academy, Dr. Bravo worked in marketing within the tourism and tertiary education sectors, where she developed and implemented national and regional promotional strategies and sales initiatives. She is also an experienced grant writer who has successfully won bids from international development agencies and national and regional organizations. Dr. Bravo holds a Ph.D. in communication from Florida State University and a graduate certificate in multicultural marketing. She earned her MA in marketing communications from Bournemouth University and her bachelor’s degree in mass communication from The University of the West Indies.
