UNDERGRADUATE LABORATORY INSTRUCTOR(Demonstrator)

The Department of Chemistry, University of the West  Indies, Mona is seeking highly organized graduates to fill the role of Undergraduate Laboratory Instructor (Demonstrator) for the upcoming Academic Year.Academic Year.

The primary purpose of an undergraduate laboratory instructor is to provide guidance that helps studentsdevelop their problem-solving abilities and become proficient in relevant will also be responsible for grading the lab assignments submitted by students and feedback.

In turn, participation in the undergraduate laboratory instructor programme gives talented graduates the opportunity to engage in Chemistry instruction at the undergraduate level as well as develop lab management skills.

SENIOR LECTURER/LECTURER IN COMPUTATIONAL CHEMISTRYSENIOR LECTURER/LECTURER IN COMPUTATIONAL CHEMISTRY

Applicants must have a PhD in Theoretical/Computational Chemistry or in a closely related area of Physical Chemistry. The successful candidate must have a demonstratedarea of Physical Chemistry. The successful candidate must have a demonstrated and publications. He/she will be expected to develop and teach course modules in and publications. He/she will be expected to develop and teach course modules in Chemistry at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and to participate in the delivery ofChemistry at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and to participate in the delivery of introductory chemistry courses.

Applicants must also be good team players with leadership skills. Excellent essential, as is a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, scholarship, service application in the classroom. He/she should be innovative, committed, hardworking and enthusiastic with excellent subject knowledge and a sound understanding of the latest student-centered teaching techniques. He/she must also possess a genuine interest in helping students and the ability to work effectively as a member of a team. Experience in developing and delivering programmes and courses by distance or online at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels will be an advantage.

The successful candidates will be required to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in their respective areas of specilization, take part in curriculum development, be involved in interdisciplinary collaboration, develop innovative research and supervise students at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The successful candidates will also be expected to make a significant contribution to the department's’ research output, to undertake an appropriate teaching and administrative load, and to take part in outreach activities.administrative load, and to take part in outreach activities.

SENIOR LECTURER/LECTURER IN MATERIALS CHEMISTRY

Applicants must have a PhD in an area of Materials Chemistry. The successful candidate must have a demonstrated record of research and publications and, in addition to teaching and course development in his/her area of specialization at the undergraduate and graduate levels, will be expected to participate in the delivery of introductory chemistry courses.

SENIOR LECTURER/LECTURER IN ENVIRONMENTAL/ANALYTICAL CHEMISTRY

Applicants must have a PhD in Environmental or Analytical Chemistry and research interests in water quality in both terrestrial and marine environments. The successful candidate must have a strong record of research and publications and the ability to teach and contribute to thestrong record of research and publications and the ability to teach and contribute to the development of analytical and environmental chemistry courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. He/she will also be required to coordinate the undergraduate Environmental Chemistry programme.
