Descriptionn:
|
This course is an introduction to generative grammar,
which is one of the currently dominant approaches to
analysing the syntax of a language. At the end of the
course, you should have acquired the basic knowledge
and skills necessary for doing syntactic analysis using
this approach and should also be able to apply what
you have learnt to solving syntactic problems not only
in English but in other languages as well. As you learn
about this approach, you will also be learning about
some of the basic concepts in syntax, regardless of
the approach chosen.
