Many women were at risk for an unplanned pregnancy. Awareness and use of the emergency contraceptive pill, however, is low with 43% of women 18 to 44 years of age aware of the method and only 14% had used it.
A survey was conducted to assess knowledge, attitude and practice about emergency contraceptives (EC) among tertiary level students in Trinidad. The general level of their knowledge about ECs was poor but their general attitude towards ECs was positive.
