Evaluation of the Hypoglycaemic Activity of Petiveria alliacea (Guinea Hen Weed) Extracts in Normoglycaemic and Diabetic Rat Models

The aqueous and hexane extracts of Petiveria alliacea were investigated for hypoglycaemic properties in normoglycaemic and streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats. The findings demonstrated no significant changes in blood glucose levels in response to Petiveria alliacea treatment.
Autophagy Facilitates the Sorafenib Resistance of Hepatocellular Carcinoma Cells

This analysis of colorectal anastomoses at a tertiary institution in Jamaica demonstrates acceptable leak and mortality rates. No modifiable risk factors were identified as contributing to anastomotic leaks.

Differences of Ventricular Late Potential between Acute STEMI and NSTEMI Patients

In this study, the positive rate of ventricular late potential was higher in patients with acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) than patients with NSTEMI. Close attention should be paid to these patients in order to reduce the occurrence of ventricular arrhythmia attack.

A survey of 399 persons was done in Nassau, Bahamas, to determine knowledge and attitudes toward the human papillomavirus and its vaccine. Although knowledge of both was limited, the majority would vaccinate their children.
Length of Stay and Outcome of Hospitalized Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Patients, Differences between General Medical Ward and Intensive Care Unit: A Cohort Study

Results of our study showed that most patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) were hospitalized for an average of five days, and mortality rate was 5%; these outcomes are better than those found in the literature.

With growing stress levels among students, sleep problems have become a common affair and significant gaps in sleep education exist today among medical students. Health hazards of sleep deprivation include anxiety, depression, hypertension, obesity, diabetes, breast malignancy, increased error rate at work, decreased dexterity and adverse impact on academic performance.
