The Atomic Spectroscopy and Wet Chemistry Laboratory primary analyses metals in solutions, digests, extracts and waters. The laboratory operates a PerkinElmer Optima 7000 DV Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometer (ICP-OES) and a Thermo Scientific iCE 3000 Series Atomic Absorption Spectrometer (AAS) with Flame and Graphite Furnace capabilities.
The laboratory also performs standard wet chemistry methods and other analyses including titrations, pH measurements and Loss On Ignition (LOI).
ICENS analyses large numbers of samples of varying matrices; to prevent cross contamination the laboratories house separate preparation areas for each sample type.
The Atomic Spectroscopy and Wet Chemistry Laboratory is also equipped with a CPI International ModBlock for open vessel digestions and extractions, and a CEM MARS5 Microwave Digestion System.
