The ‘Praise on Campus Series’
The Universities and Colleges Christian Fellowship (UCCF) presents the ‘Praise on Campus Series’ at the UWI Mona Campus Students’ Union, Tuesday November 2, 2004 at 6:30 p.m. ‘Praise on Campus’ will then move to other campuses every Tuesday. All students are invited to share in this worship experience.
UWI School of Continuing Studies
The UWI School of Continuing Studies, UWI will host another in its Country Conference Series in St. Lucia from November 18 to 20. The St. Lucia Conference will be held under the theme Beyond Walls: Multi-Disciplinary Perspectives. Prof. Sir Roy Augier, Professor Emeritus in the Department of History, UWI, Mona will deliver the keynote address at the opening session. Sir Roy, a St. Lucian, is known for his seminal contribution to the development of Caribbean History.
Welcome Breakfast
Anglican students and staff at UWI Mona are invited to a welcome breakfast following the morning service at the University Chapel on Sunday November 7, 2004. The service begins at 7:15 a.m. followed by breakfast immediately after at the Mary Seacole Hall dining room. This is an occasion for new and returning staff and students to meet each other in a relaxed environment. Interested persons may confirm their attendance by telephoning 927-1034. Anglican students are also invited to join in fellowship and fun every Thursday evening from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
World of Work Seminars
The annual World of Work seminars organized by the Office of Placement and Career Services at UWI Mona continues on Thursday, November 4 with a presentation titled Staying Employed – Coping with the Challenges of Today’s World of Work. The seminar takes place in SR10, Faculty of Social Sciences at 3:00 p.m. The presenter will be Mrs. Gillian Rowlands, Managing Director, Hamilton Knight Associates Limited. All students, particularly final year students are invited to attend.
Award of Scholarships
The Department of Economics and the UWI community congratulate Mr. Gary Lyn and Ms. Anika Kiddoe who are the recipients of the G. Arthur Brown Memorial Scholarship 2004 and the Thomas De La Rue Scholarship 2004, respectively. Each award carries emoluments of two hundred and fifty thousand dollars (J$250,000.00) per annum.
Course in Community Care of the Elderly in the Caribbean
The Department of Community Health and Psychiatry, UWI, Mona and Action Ageing Jamaica, invite applications for the five month course in "Community Care of the Elderly in the Caribbean", for the period January 24 to June 24, 2005. The full-time course is designed to meet the needs of persons who have special interest in working with the elderly or who already work with the elderly at the level of direct care or in administration or supervision of age care work.
Four Month Course in the Principles and Practice of Social Work
The Social Welfare Training Centre of the School of Continuing Studies, University of the West Indies is again offering the Four Month Course in the Principles and Practice of Social Work from January 12 to April 28, 2005. The course is designed to meet the needs of persons working in the broad field of social welfare -either as professionals or voluntary workers in recognised agencies -who have not had professional training in social work.
IDB Summer Internship & Employment Programmes
The Inter-American Development Bank is pleased to announce the following Special Programmes: Junior Professional, Summer Internship and Summer Employee Programmes, and the Diversity Internship Program for Afro-Descendants and Indigenous Peoples for 2005. JADOL Week
Jamaica Association of Distance and Open Learning (JADOL) will celebrate a week of activities from Saturday, October 23 to Thursday, October 28. The theme for the week is E-Learning as a Mode of Distance Education. On Monday, October 25 JADOL will host its Annual General Meeting at the JAMAL Foundation, 47b South Camp Road, Kingston 4 at 3:00 p.m.
