One Stop Graduation Centre
The University of the West Indies, Mona Campus will host graduation ceremonies for the 2003-2004 graduating class on November 5 and 6. Prior to the ceremonies the Mona Campus will operate a One Stop Graduation Centre in the Assembly Hall between October 25 - November 2 from 9.00 a.m. - 7.00 p.m. On Saturday, October 30 opening hours will be 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. At the On Stop Graduation Centre, graduates will be able to collect their graduation gowns, take graduations portraits, order UWI memorabilia, join the Alumni Association and register for employment if necessary.
The Social History Project Exhibition at Liberty Hall
The Social History Project of the Department of History and Archaeology, UWI, Mona Campus will be launching an exhibition entitled, “Jamaica’s Black Middle Class of the Late 19th and Early 20th Centuries” at Liberty Hall-The Legacy of Marcus Garvey, 76 King Street, Downtown on Sunday October 31, 2004, at 3:00 p.m. The exhibition is part of on-going research being carried out by Dr. Joy Lumsden, who has been working on the period between the Morant Bay Rebellion (1865) and the end of World War I (1918).
UWI Golf Classic 2004
The UWI in association with the Jamaica Golf Association, Golf Classic 2004 will host a Golf Tournament on Sunday, October 31 at the Caymanas Golf and Country Club. The sponsor for this tournament is Alliance Investment Management Limited and the tournament will benefit the JGA/UWI Golf Scholarship Fund.
Entries will be accepted from all amateur golfers with certified handicaps, UWI graduates, students, academic staff and administrative staff. Spouses are especially welcome.
UWI Singers Concert Season
The UWI Singers will host a series of concert from October 29 to 31. The show times are as follows: Friday 8:00 p.m.; Saturday 8:00 p.m. and Sunday 4:00 p.m. & 8:00 p.m.

World of Work Seminars
The annual World of Work seminars organized by the Office of Placement and Career Services at UWI Mona continue on Thursday, October 28 with a presentation titled “Preparing for and Attending the Job Interview – Dressing Appropriately and How to Respond to commonly asked Questions.” The presenter will be Ms. Novelette Morgan, Human Resource Officer, Financial Services Division, Grace Kennedy & Company Ltd. The seminar takes place in SR10, Faculty of Social Sciences at 3:00 p.m. All students, particularly final year students are invited to attend.
Annual Psychology Conference
The Psychology Unit of the Department of Sociology, Psychology and Social Work, UWI, Mona will host its Annual Psychology Conference to be held at the Mona Campus from October 20-22. The theme of the conference is "Psychology: Its Promise for the Region." The opening session on Wednesday, October 20, from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. will be addressed by Dr. Leachim Semaj, President of the Jamaica Psychological Society.
Credit Union Members Appreciation Day
The University of the West Indies (Mona) and Community Co-operative Credit Union will celebrate International Credit Union (ICU) Day on the Mona Campus with its Member Appreciation Day on Thursday October 21. The Theme for ICU Day is Credit Unions …Dream, Belong, Achieve. The Credit Union will also stage a Motor Vehicle Fair from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in its parking lot. All members of the Credit Union are invited to attend.
Heritage Week at The Philip Sherlock Centre
“Black Space”
The Philip Sherlock Centre for the Creative Arts will host several events for Heritage Week. “Blackspace”, the initiative of writer, social-historian Dr. Erna Brodber, will take place at Woodside in St. Mary and provides an opportunity for the descendants of transported Africans to explore issues arising from their historical experiences. The event takes place on Saturday and Sunday, October 16-17. Dr. Funso Aiyejina, Prize-Winning Nigerian Writer and UWI, St. Augustine lecturer will participate in discussions on spirituality and worship in the Diaspora.
IDU Workshops on Course Design
The Instructional Development Unit University of the West Indies, Mona PRESENTS its monthly series of four Workshops on Course Design in October 21 -December 1, 2004 in the IDU Training Room (upstairs Interfaculty Lecture Theatre). Workshop Facilitators are Dr. Beryl Allen, Miss Meta Bogle, & Professor Joseph Branday. The programme is designed to familiarize participants with the process of Designing and Evaluating Courses.
SALISES/UWIHARP Seminar
The Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social and Economic Studies (SALISES) in collaboration with The University of the West Indies HIV/AIDS Response Programme (UWI HARP) will host a seminar on Wednesday, October 20, 2004 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Seminar will feature a presentation on “The Economic Impact of HIV/AIDS in the Caribbean: The Case of Suriname and Guyana.” The guest speaker will be Mr. Roger McLean, Lecturer in the Health Economics Unit located on the St. Augustine campus.
