All female entrepreneur team T&S Delivery are the winners of the JMMB Joan Duncan Corporate Social Responsibility Prize (CSR) at the 2021 UWI Venture Competition (UWIVC). The CSR prize is awarded to the team whose profit model demonstrates a strong alignment with ethical social and economic development, with a robust giving programme. Team T&S is operated by sisters Tajera and Sanjee Orrett natives of the beautiful parish of St. Ann who saw a need to establish a delivery service in Ocho Rios.

Corporate Social Responsibility is a key component of the Vincent HoSang Entrepreneurship Programme and by extension the UWIVC, in that the competition is more than just about great business ideas but also about serving our communities and giving back. In that regard, a special boot camp is hosted by the JMMB Joan Duncan Foundation to impart CSR best practices and highlight some of their own activities which have been highly impactful.

The winner of the CSR prize is awarded a JMD$40,000 cash award which is to be donated to a charity of their choice. This year’s winner chose the Mustard Seed Charity in St. Ann as the recipient of the prize funds and indicated that they wanted to reward an organization that operates directly in their community and whose vision aligns with theirs.

The UWIVC remains committed to ensuring that entrepreneurs who  participate in the programme are not only concerned with making profits but that they also develop a real appreciation for corporate social responsibility and the critical role it plays in the growth and development of our nation.
