The Behavioural Sciences and General Management (BSGM) Unit is responsible for delivering two of Mona School of Business and Management’s (MSBM) bachelor’s degrees and several courses required for the Human Resource Management (HRM) concentration within the Master in Business Administration (MBA) programme.
The bachelor’s degree in Management Studies delivers the full range of competencies required to enable our graduates to function in a general managerial capacity in a business or other type of organisation. It is also flexible enough to allow suitable candidates to combine this degree with other sub-specialisations like Accounting or Human Resource Management.
Our newly revised BSc. in Human Resource Management programme aims to provide candidates with the foundational management skills that enable our graduates to dialogue effectively with other specialists in a work organization. On top of this is layered the specialized technical and behavioural competencies required to function effectively as an entry-to-mid-level human resource management professional. By focusing on a careful combination of evidence-based rigour and exposure to tried and tested ideas and practice, MSBM delivers HRM graduates with significantly above average ability to participate appropriately in organizational diagnostics, organizational leadership, people analytics, leadership managing change and employment risk, building organizational effectiveness, as well as forging and enhancing interpersonal relationships, through communication, collaborative engagement, negotiation and conflict resolution.
At the MBA level, the HRM concentration focuses on developing and enhancing the competence of the mid-to-senior-level human resource management professionals. Graduates emerge with a sound appreciation of the global and strategic role of human resource management, as well as the ability to lead or contribute to high level organisational diagnostics, strategy design, change management, relationship management, and the management of employment risk.
