The University of the West Indies, (The UWI) Mona, is pleased to announce the appointment of Jonathan Archie to the position of Deputy Campus Registrar in the Office of the Campus Registrar (OCR); the appointment takes effect on August 1, 2021. 

At Mona, the Registrar's office has oversight for Admissions; Campus Records Management; Examinations; Human Resource Management; the International Students Office; Marketing, Recruitment and Communications; the Office of Graduate Studies and Research; Registry Information Systems; and the Secretariat. The main function of the Deputy Campus Registrar is to assist the Campus Registrar in providing management, administrative direction, coordination and control of all the core processes in the OCR, and in the absence of the Campus Registrar assumes full authority for the Office.

Mr Archie holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting with a minor in Marketing from the University of Technology and a Master of Science in Accounting from The UWI Mona with emphasis on the Legal Environment of Business, Management Information Systems and Corporate Environment and Strategy.  

He joined the UWI Mona family in 2004 as an Administrative Assistant in the Examinations Section with responsibility for supporting the coordination of examinations across the region through the UWIDEC (now Open Campus) system. He spent five years in this capacity at which time his hard work and superior performance did not go unnoticed as he received the Registrar’s Special Award for Service (2009) and was promoted to Senior Administrative Assistant in the Section. As the Senior Administrative Assistant and Supervisor of the Examinations Section, Mr Archie provided direct support to the Assistant Registrar and had responsibility for managing the printing and release of Graduation Certificates; creating the Campus’ complex examination time-table, supporting the planning and staging of the Campus’ annual graduation ceremonies and made his mark with the implementation of protocols to ensure and maintain the integrity of the examinations process.

During his tenure at the University, Mr. Archie has served the institution in the capacities of Assistant Registrar and Head of Section for Examinations, Admissions, Student Support & Services with the Open Campus, and Administration. While at the Open Campus (2015-2016), Mr Archie was credited with conceptualizing, planning and staging The UWI’s first virtual Matriculation ceremony and increasing Guild Chapter activation within the Open Campus by 50%.
