Since 2016 when the management of The University of the West Indies (The UWI) took the strategic decision to prepare and position the institution for global competitive rankings, its performance results have been steadily progressive. The choice to engage the Times Higher Education (THE) ranking system was based on its standing as the most reputable and independently quality assured. Its annual rankings have become a standard measuring tool in the comparative performances of the best global universities.

The University of the West Indies (The UWI) is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor C. Justin Robinson as the new Pro Vice-Chancellor of the Board for Undergraduate Studies (BUS). Professor Robinson’s appointment took effect on August 1, 2021, beginning his three-year term.

Professor Rose-Marie Belle Antoine has been appointed as the new Pro Vice-Chancellor of the Board for Graduate Studies and Research (BGSR) at The University of the West Indies (The UWI). Having completed two terms as the first Dean, Faculty of Law St. Augustine and regional University Dean, Professor Antoine now heads the University’s Board for Graduate Studies and Research, to oversee its policy and operational plans for development and regulation.

Dr. Stacy Richards-Kennedy has been appointed Interim Pro Vice-Chancellor for Global Affairs at The University of the West Indies (The UWI).  With effect from August 1, 2021, she assumed leadership of the regional university’s global engagement portfolio and is responsible for coordinating internationalisation and strategic global initiatives across The UWI system.

A significant change has been made at the start of the new academic year 2021-2022, to the staffing of the inner Office of the Vice-Chancellor, located at the Regional Headquarters of The University of the West Indies in Jamaica.

The University of the West Indies Mona Campus wishes to advise all students and members of the public that Friday, September 17, 2021 is a full business day as  such the Mona Campus will be opened for face – to – face business in keeping with the announcement made by the Government of Jamaica on Wednesday, September 15, 2021.
Members of the UWI community are being asked to continue to check their University emails and information from the Government of Jamaica for updates regarding the new island-wide arrangements.
