A sweet venture unfolded at The University of the West Indies' (The UWI) Cave Hill Campus on October 20 as The UWI’s world-renowned Cocoa Research Centre (CRC) introduced its signature chocolates to the Barbados market. The University of the West Indies (The UWI), one of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU’s) 14 global Academic Training Centres (ATCs), has opened registration for its first course offering under the ITU’s ATC programme. This course, Design and Development of Smart Cities, provides an overview of the essential aspects of smart city development.

On Monday, November 20, The University of the West Indies (The UWI) brought together a panel of experts for the Vice-Chancellor’s Forum, under the theme “Masculinity, Fatherhood and Children’s Rights”. The panel investigated the shifts in masculinities and their implications for children's rights to live free from violence along with other rights enshrined in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

The UWI Mona hopes that all members of our Campus Community are safe and have been minimally impacted by the inclement weather conditions that affected Jamaica on November 17.

The University of the West Indies, Mona Campus, is excited to announce the eagerly anticipated Open House titled, Pelican Par: The Complete University Experience which will be held on November 16 and 17, 2023, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.

Reggae crooner Beres Hammond flipped the script on this year's UWI, Mona Graduation ceremonies, much to the delight of numerous fans in the audience.

Hammond, who was conferred with the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Letters (DLitt) at the final of four ceremonies on Saturday, November 4, did what he does best when it was his turn to address the graduating class of 2023.

Honorary Graduand Ms Rachel Manley has lauded The UWI, which is this year celebrating its 75^th anniversary, for fostering and nurturing regional integration over the decades.

Jamaica’s Ambassador to the United States, Audrey Marks, last Friday called on UWI Vice-Chancellor Professor Sir Hilary Beckles, and Pro Vice-Chancellor and UWI Mona Principal Densil Williams to continue efforts to broaden student exchange initiatives between US academic institutions and The UWI.

Ambassador Marks was speaking at the first of four annual UWI, Mona Graduation Ceremonies shortly after she was conferred with the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Laws (LLD).
