Scholarships
UWI SCHOLARSHIPS
Scholarships are available to graduates of UWI for students pursing full-time research degrees i.e MPhil/PhD at the Mona Campus. The value of the award is J$800,000.00. per annum.
NON-UWI SCHOLARSHIPS
A small number of other graduate scholarships are available. Applicants are invited by means of advertisements. Details are usually provided during the period March to May of every year.
RESEARCH GRANTS AND GRADUATE AWARDS
The Campus Committee provides research grants and graduate awards to Staff and Students as follows:
- research projects (equipment and supplies)
- conference participation/research visits
- publication
PROCEDURE FOR GRANT APPLICATIONS
As of March 1 2021 applicants are invited to apply for grant funding via an online portal. The application process is as follows
- Register for UWIScholar account at https://uwischolar.sta.uwi.edu using UWI staff/student email address
- Log into UWIScholar account
- Navigate to Campus Research and Publication (R&P) Fund Application module
- Select and complete R&P form and upload supporting documents
- Submit application

Applications for grants are invited by means of advertisements placed on Mona Messaging and the Office of Graduate Studies and Research website.
Deadline Dates for Application - Three weeks before each meeting
NOTE: The Campus Committee requires a report on the expenditure of the grant and on the progress of the research project.
STUDENTSHIPS
Departmental awards are offered by various departments for pursuing research in specific areas. Part-time employment may also be available and enquiries should be made to the Head of the Department and/or Dean Faculty in which the student is pursuing a higher degree.
Graduate students may be employed within the University for up to twelve (12) hours a week without losing their full-time student status.
