The Ministry of Education contracted The UWI in 2014 to deliver the Aspiring Principals’ Programme (APP) to 40 persons on behalf of the NCEL. One condition of the contract was that the University would be open to future and long-term partnership arrangements with NCEL for delivery of this and other programmes as may be decided by the NCEL. Given the demand in the market as occasioned by the proposed legislative changes to the requirements of the Principalship, NCEL has been mandated to continue the APP. In order to guarantee that the APP reflects and maintains the highest quality in the preparation of graduates, a rigorous quality assurance programme is required. The focus of this aspect of the quality assurance exercise will be at the point of delivery of the four modules, field experience and other supporting presentations conducted by NCEL. To date, seven cohorts have been completed successfully.
