Expanding Numbers in Children's Worlds

Welcome to The Written Numbers in Everyday Life Adventure!

Embark on an exciting journey with us as we explore the world of written numbers in everyday life. Our project, a dynamic collaboration between researchers at the University of West Indies, Mona Campus, and the University of Southampton, invites 3-5-year-old children, parents, and teachers to join in the fun!

What's the Adventure About?

In this innovative project, children will become number detectives, spotting numbers in real-world contexts like price tags, speed signs, and even birthday cakes! Parents will engage in meaningful conversations with their children about these numbers and the contexts they appear in. Teachers will follow up with engaging classroom activities to reinforce children's learning.

Our adventure begins in February 2024, and we're inviting approximately 120 parents and 25 teachers from diverse early childhood institutions in Kingston and the UK to join us for this pilot project.
