Dr. Saran Stewart


Saran Stewart, PhD is a Senior Lecturer of Comparative Higher Education and Deputy Dean for Quality Assurance and Undergraduate Matters in the Faculty of Humanities and Education at the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus. She was recently selected as a 2018 African Diaspora Emerging Scholar by the Comparative and International Education Society. She has received the 2017 and 2018 Principal's Awards for Most Outstanding Researcher and Best Research Publication from The UWI. At the core of her research, Dr.

Dr. Carmel G. Roofe-Bowen


Dr. Carmel Roofe-Bowen is a teacher educator who holds a PhD and Masters of Philosophy in Curriculum Development from the University of the West Indies, Mona, a Bachelor in Education with honours from the University of Technology, Jamaica and a Diploma in Teaching from Shortwood Teachers’ College. Her career in teaching spans 20 years of combined service at the Secondary and Tertiary levels of the education system. She is an active education researcher and has authored and co-authored several publications in local and international journals.

Dr. Sharline M. Cole


Dr. Cole has graduate degrees with specialized study in Educational Psychology on parental involvement. She is an educator and trained in Guidance and Counselling. Dr. Cole has over 20 years combined work experience; in special education (of the deaf), primary, secondary, tertiary education and educational management. 

Dr. Carol Hordatt Gentles


Dr. Hordatt Gentles holds a PhD in Curriculum, Teaching and Learning in Teacher Education from the Ontario Institute of Educational Studies, University of Toronto, a Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology, a Diploma in Education specializing in Geography and Social Studies from UWI, Mona, and a BA in Psychology from York University, Toronto, Canada. Dr. Hordatt Gentles is a Teacher Education and Teacher Development Specialist. In this capacity she has worked as a Consultant with the USAID, the World Bank, UNESCO and the Ministry of Education.

Dr. Tashane Haynes-Brown


Dr Tashane Haynes-Brown, PhD specializes in Teacher Education and Teacher Development at the UWI. She has over 12 years of combined work experience, over 9 years of teaching experience at the secondary level in the area of Spanish and English language education and 3 years at the tertiary level with specializations in Introduction to Teaching and Learning, Issues and Perspectives in Education, School and Classroom Management, and Development of Foreign Language Skills. Dr Haynes-Brown has served as a CXC Spanish oral examiner and CAPE Spanish assistant examiner for over 5 years.

Dr. Zoyah Kinkead-Clark


Dr. Kinkead-Clark has been in the field of early childhood education for several years in the capacities of kindergarten teacher, teacher educator and researcher. Having completed studies in Early Childhood Education, Reading and Applied Behaviour Analysis, she has also developed and contributed to the development of such programmes at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. Dr. Kinkead-Clark currently serves as an external examiner in Early Childhood Education for the Joint Board of Teacher Education.

Dr. Loraine Cook


Dr Cook received her PhD in Educational Psychology from the University of the West Indies in 2007. She received her Masters in Education Psychology from the University of the West Indies in 2002, and graduated from Concordia University, Montreal, Canada majoring in Urban Studies, in 1982.

Dr. Deon Edwards-Kerr


Edwards-Kerr, Deon M., Ph.D. is a lecturer in the field of Measurement and Educational Research. She holds a Ph.D. in Educational Studies (University of Manchester, UK); M.Sc. -Educational Research (University of Manchester, UK); M.Sc. - Economics (UWI, Mona); M.Sc. - Economics and Management (UWI, Mona); Diploma Teacher Education (Sam Sharpe Teachers' College);

Dr. Clavia Williams-McBean


Dr. Clavia Williams-McBean is a Lecturer in the School of Education in the field of Educational Measurement & Research. She holds an M.Ed.
