Professor Reese was Head in August 2008.
Under the leadership of Prof. Reese the Department continued to:
• Conduct rigorous research
• Produce high quality graduates
• Impact the teaching of chemistry in high schools through support of initiatives such as the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) Spectroscopy Workshop
• Support industry through the establishment of an M.Sc. programme in Food and Agro-Processing Technology and short courses such as Thermal Processing in the Food Industry/Better Process Control School for certification by the USDA
• Improve interactions with alumni through the Chem SAF, the Association of Alumni and Friends of the Chemistry Department
• Improve the curriculum and support student retention through programmes such as Peer-Led Team Learning (PLTL)
• Improve infrastructure
