Course Description

Course Rationale

This course is problem-oriented, and critically examines contemporary answers to questions which include:

i) What is knowledge?
ii) What are the limitations of knowledge?
•  What is belief?
•  What is the relation of knowledge to belief?
•  What counts as a rational or justified belief?
•  What counts as good evidence for a belief?
•  What is truth?
•  What is the value of skepticism in human search for knowledge?
•  What is the relation of meaning to knowledge?

Teaching:
  1. i) Two lecture hours per week.
    ii) One tutorial hour attendance per week.
Evaluation:

Tutorial attendance and presentation … … 10 marks
