You are required to upload a copy of your ID (Passport or National Jamaican Voters’ card) on the test taker portal. You must provide the same ID used in registering on your test day. You are also required to send the proof of payment by email to the IELTS office at ielts@uwimona.edu.jm. This proof must be submitted before full registration can be confirmed and must be done within three days after registration.
Your confirmation email will include the test date, venue, registration time, and the test start time. Venue details for each test are issued upon confirmation of your registration. Please include accurate email contact when applying for your test as our communications with you will only be through email. The IELTS test is offered two to three times per month in Jamaica by the Department of Language, Linguistics, and Philosophy, The University of the West Indies, on both the Mona and Western Jamaica Campuses.
REFUNDS, CANCELLATIONS & TRANSFERS
If you cancel your IELTS test up to five weeks before the test date, you will receive a refund minus an administration fee of 25% of the test fee.
Please note that refunds can take four to six weeks to process.
No refunds will be allowed for IELTS within five weeks of the test date.
To cancel your IELTS (Academic and General Training) test, please log in to the Test Taker Portal and submit a cancellation request, along with an upload of supporting documentation/evidence.
If a medical certificate confirming illness on the date of the test is provided within two calendar days of the test date, together with the submitted cancellation request on the Test Taker Portal, the fee is refundable, minus an administration fee of 25% of the test fee.
Only medical certificates in Arabic or English are accepted. If we have not received your submitted cancellation request along with an upload of supporting documentation/evidence on the Test Taker Portal by the second calendar day after the test, you will be marked as absent and forfeit all claims.
Please note that we do not accept sick notes issued by family members.
Copies sent by fax or email are not accepted. Transfers can be accommodated if they are requested at least 14 days ahead of the test date and, will be facilitated for any test date within.
If you wish to request a refund, cancellation, or transfer within 14 days of the test date, this will only be considered on a case by case basis. These may include;
These situations must be proven with hard copies of the relevant, authentic documentation. The documentation must be stamped and signed. Only evidence of serious illness will be considered and an original medical certificate which must be presented to the office must state the inability to appear for the test on the scheduled date. Once the test date has passed you will not receive a refund nor be eligible for a transfer.
Should you become ill on the day of the test, you must immediately (on the same day) contact the Centre or one of its representatives by telephone or email. If this is not done no refund nor transfer will be affected. A medical report must also be produced within 5 days of the test date, stating that you were not fit to sit the test on that particular date.
Once a candidate presents a medical certificate, you can receive a transfer up to three months after the initial test date. Any later request in this regard cannot be honored. You may however receive a refund up to six months after the initial test date but not later.
