Postgraduate Diploma in Technical and Professional Writing

The Postgraduate Diploma in Technical and Professional Writing is now being offered. The programme draws on courses already in existence  and students in the Postgraduate Diploma will share classes with students in the MA in the English Language. The programme is one year in duration with three courses in first semester, two courses in second semester, and two courses in Summer Term. The diploma contains seven (7) compulsory courses each with a credit weight of 3, totalling 21 credits.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants should have earned at least a 2.50 GPA or a Lower Second Class Honours degree in any discipline. Please note, the Diploma requires that students either have done LING1001/LING6007 and LING1002/ LING6008. Students intending to do the Diploma, may register as specially admitted students to complete these courses before applying for the Diploma.

The Diploma in Technical and Professional Writing is being offered online and is open for part-time registration.

LANG6099: Advanced Academic English Language Skills (3 credits)

LING6401: The Grammar of English: An Extrapolatory Approach (3 credits)

SEMESTER 2 COURSES

LING6406: Spelling and Pronunciation of English (3 credits)

LING6304: English in the Digital Environment (3 credits)

LING6402: World Englishes (3 credits)

SEMESTER 3 COURSES

LING6100: Professional and Technical Writing in English: Theory and Practice (3 credits)

LING6221: Principles of Editing Professional Texts (3 credits)
