This talk will examine the feeding strategies of some rudists and then look at the development of the hippuritid rudists in the Santonian and early Campanian of Jamaica. Jamaica (along with Puerto Rico) has the best developments of rudist at this time and five different locations have yielded faunas that show a progressive evolution including a new locality in central Jamaica. Rudists can be used to date the limestones in which they occur and are useful in Jamaica and Puerto Rico and possibly in Cuba.
