Introduction to Geographic Information Systems

This course introduces students to the general principles of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). It covers the use of GIS software, spatial data, data manipulation, coordinate systems, cartography and map production. The course will be assessed using practical exercises only. The course is tailored to the needs of students campus-wide, who desire to have an introduction to GIS and spatial data. The course is offered in a blended mode to allow online lectures and tutorials, and face-to-face practical sessions with the use of both licensed and open-source software
