Our department comprises a multidisciplinary team of academics and professionals who pursue excellence in research, teaching, training of undergraduate students and postgraduate healthcare professionals, scholastic and professional leadership, clinical services, advisory, consultations, collaboration with stakeholders, public and community service. The excellent work of our academics is well supported by a competent cadre of technical, administrative and service staff.
In the undergraduate realm, we contribute to the MBBS programme through the Junior Child Health Clerkship (Year 3 MBBS), the Senior Child Health Clerkship (Year 5 MBBS), and lectures for courses in years 1 to 3 (MBBS). The Aspects of Family Medicine (MDSC3203) is a 3rd year rotation in the MBBS program. It forms one of the 3 introductory clerkships in the final semester of Stage 1. It is an 8-week rotation equally shared with Community health & Psychiatry. This child health portion aims to produce students with requisite foundation principles and skills in basic paediatrics as they are exposed to both ambulatory and inpatient care.
For postgraduates, our department administers several programmes and they are as follows:
